Desde que llegué me sentí bien, acogida, en casa…sea en la asociación, que en el barrio. Empezando por la asociación en la que estoy haciendo mi voluntariado, pues los niños y las niñas, así como los chavales y los demás compañeros me acogieron con entusiasmo y curiosidad así que desde el principio me ha parecido muy fácil encajar.
Quisiera contar mucho más sobre el proyecto pero dejaré pasar un poco más de tiempo para contaros más cosas, ya que de momentos me dedico, entre semana, a ayudar los grupos en los que haga falta una persona más para ayudar con los deberes y hacer juegos con los más pequeños, mientras los sábados hago actividades con los adolescentes del centro.
Los demás voluntarios europeos y yo, además, tenemos la suerte de vivir en Vallecas que nos permite, por un lado, estar cerca de las asociaciones donde tenemos que ir todos los días a trabajar y, por otro lado, estar en un ambiente familiar, lejos del caos del centro pero al mismo tiempo poco distante con los transportes públicos.
Vivir en Vallecas es una experiencia muy bonita porque, por lo que he visto hasta ahora, todos se conocen y te reciben con mucho cariño. Personalmente, ya que me gusta hablar y conocer, me he sentido más que bienvenida aquí.
Para mi no es la primera vez en Madrid, ya había estado aquí de vacaciones algunas veces pero, aunque sea en pocos días, he visto lugares que no conocía antes como por ejemplo el maravilloso parque Cerro del Tío Pio (que aquí todos conocen como “parque de las siete tetas”) donde se tiene una espectacular vista de toda Madrid y donde se pueden apreciar atardeceres mágicos.
From the beginning I felt really well, at home… both in my association and in the neighborhood. Starting from the association, all the kids and the guys that work there welcomed me with a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity, for this reason it was easy to feel part of the organization from the first days.
I’d like to say more about the project but I’ll leave it for now, and I’ll wait for the moment I’ll have more things to say. During these first weeks I’ve been helping with the kids’s homeworks or playing with the youngests and during the weekends I’m helping with the activities with the adolescents.
The other volunteers and I have the luck of living in the neighborhood of Vallecas, where we live close to our associations. We found a familiar environment, far from the chaos of the city center but also close to the most important attractions by public transportation. Living in Vallecas is a really nice experience porque all the people in the neighborhood know each other and they welcome you with a lot of love and kindness. I love meeting new people and talk with them, this is why I felt so welcomed here.
Is it not my first time in Madrid, I’ve been here on vacation, and I’m discovering new amazing places like the Cerro del Tío Pio park (everyone knows it as “parque de las siete tetas”), from where you can have a great panoramic view of the city and you can enjoy beautiful sunsets.
