Hace un par de semanas fue la Semana Santa aquí en España y yo no estaba acostumbrada a tantos días de vacaciones en Pascua! Bueno, es verdad que ya había pasado una Semana Santa aquí cuando estaba de Erasmus, pero es algo que en Italia no solemos tener y todas mis amigas y familia allá estaban sorprendidos cuando les dije aquí teníamos vacaciones durante más de una semana!
Mucha gente aprovechó estos días para ir de vacaciones, para volver al pueblo o simplemente para ir de turista por ahí. Yo me quedé en Madrid pero me lo pasé muy bien!
En citycentro tuvimos un campamento urbano con los niños y niñas de primaria durante 4 días. Fuimos de excursión a Big Jump Park, donde lo hemos dado todo y hemos disfrutado a tope saltando, jugando, riendo y bailando.
Otro día fuimos al Parque Europa, donde los peques pudieron viajar por Europa conociendo los monumentos más importantes y jugando entre las principales capitales.
Y los demás días, nos quedamos en el colegio, jugando, compartiendo y creando aventuras!
Después de estos primeros días muy movidos, seguí mis vacaciones descansando y relajándome en Madrid, aprovechando para ir a ver el atardecer al Parque de las Siete Tetas (uno de mis lugares favoritos), saliendo con mis amigos.
El sábado antes de Pascua fui a Toledo y, a pesar de que me quemé la espalda y los hombros por el sol, lo he pasado muy bien. Toledo es una ciudad muy bonita y, en algunos rincones del casco viejo, se parece volver a la época medieval. Si os gusta caminar, os recomiendo el recorrido que va desde el Puente de Alcántara hasta el Puente de San Martín, pasando por el Mirador desde el cual se puede apreciar una vista muy bonita de toda la ciudad. En el último puente también hay una tirolina que bueno, es algo bastante turístico y un poco sobreestimado, pero ya que estaba pues…lo hice!
El domingo de Pascua lo pasé en casa, como un verdadero día de vacaciones: me desperté tarde, desayuné con calma y luego me puse a preparar la comida. Una verdadera comida de un día festivo en Italia: entrantes varios, lasagna, carne al horno con patatas y postre. Todo acompañado por un buen vino y…pues siempre me sorprendo de tanto tiempo que se necesita para cocinar, y lo poco que se tarda en comer! Pero valió la pena!
El lunes ya era el último día antes de volver al voluntariado y además hacía un calor que parecía verano ya! Después de haber hecho un picnic en el parque, fui a dar un paseo por las calles del centro ya que hacía días que no iba. Había mucha gente y muchos artistas y me acordé de lo hermoso que es el centro de Madrid.
Aunque al principio dije que eran muchos días, al final se me hicieron muy cortitos pero siempre se me llena el corazón cuando vuelvo a citycentro y los niños me abrazan después de un tiempo. Además, han sido días muy bonitos, en los que pude disfrutar y pasar tiempo con mis seres queridos!
Semana Santa en Madrid
A couple of weeks ago it was Easter here in Spain and I was not used to so many days of vacation at Easter! Well, it’s true that I had already spent one Easter here when I was on Erasmus, but it’s something that Italy we don’t usually have and all my friends and family there were surprised when I told them here we had vacations for more than a week!
Many people took advantage of these days to go on vacation, to go back to town or just to go sightseeing around. I stayed in Madrid but I had a great time!
In citycentro we had an urban camp with the primary school children for 4 days. We went on a trip to Big Jump Park, where we gave it our all and had a great time jumping, playing, laughing and dancing.
Another day we went to Europa Park, where the kids were able to travel around Europe, seeing the most important monuments and playing among the main capitals.
While the other days, we stayed at school, playing, sharing and creating adventures!
After these first very busy days, I continued my vacation resting and relaxing in Madrid, taking the opportunity to go to see the sunset at the Parque de las Siete Tetas (one of my favorite places), going out with my friends.
On Saturday before Easter I went to Toledo and, even though my back and shoulders got sunburned, I had a great time. Toledo is a very beautiful city and, in some corners of the old town, it seems to go back to medieval times. If you like walking, I recommend the route that goes from the Puente de Alcántara to the Puente de San Martín, passing by the Mirador from which you can appreciate a very nice view of the whole city. On the last bridge there is also a zip line that is quite touristy and a bit overestimated, but since I was there…I did it!
Easter Sunday was spent at home, like a real vacation: I woke up late, had a leisurely breakfast and then started preparing the meal. A real Italian holiday meal: various starters, lasagna, baked meat with potatoes and dessert. All accompanied by a good wine and…well, I am always amazed at how much time it takes to cook, and how little time it takes to eat! But it was worth it!
Monday was already the last day before returning to volunteering and it was so hot that it felt like summer already! After having had a picnic in the park, I went for a walk through the downtown streets, as I hadn’t been there for days. There were many people and many artists and I remembered how beautiful the center of Madrid is.
Although at the beginning I said it was a lot of days, in the end they were very short, but my heart is always full when I come back to citycentro and the children hug me after a while. Besides, they have been very nice days, in which I could enjoy and spend time with my beloved ones!
